Dr. Hilary Malcarney is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship-training in sports medicine. She completed additional specialty training in shoulder reconstruction in Sydney, Australia. Dr. Malcarney joined the Swift team in 2022.
Dr. Malcarney focuses on providing high-quality patient care. Her interest in orthopedics, specifically sports medicine, stems from her experiences on the playing field. She enjoys teamwork, her role has evolved from an athlete on a team to a physician leading and working alongside a team.
After earning her bachelor's in biology at Princeton University, she moved on to medical school and an orthopedic surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Additionally, Dr. Malcarney completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Lake Tahoe Orthopedic Institute.
She has been practicing in Reno since 2006. The primary focus of her practice is on shoulder reconstruction, including arthroplasty and arthroscopy. In addition, she works closely with the University of Nevada, Reno student-athletes as an orthopedic consultant and has affiliations with all four local hospitals.
Dr. Malcarney continues to enjoy the area's outdoor activities, and the views of the Sierras from the ski slopes and hiking trails always remind her of why she chose this part of the country. Ultimately though, her patients and colleagues in the medical profession keep her here. Dr. Malcarney is happy to call the Reno / Tahoe area home.
